What we do:

Emergency Planning

RAV responds to a wide variety of emergencies on a daily basis. Planning for emergencies is an essential part of this response.

Emergency planning takes place on many levels:

  • RAV has its own Emergency Management Plan;
  • The State Health Emergency Response Plan has been developed with involvement from RAV and continues to have RAV representation;
  • Each Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee, throughout regional and rural Victoria, has a local RAV Officer as a representative;
  • Each Divisional Emergency Response Committee has a RAV Manager as a representative; and
  • The Victoria Emergency Management Council covers emergency planning for the State of Victoria and RAV is represented at its senior level.

Additionally, RAV is involved in emergency planning for specific major events, such as the Avalon Airshow and the Motor Bike Grand Prix at Phillip Island and is an integral part of the pre-event planning processes.

Further planning is conducted for some large facilities and community events such as Rock Above The Falls, and the Pier To Pub Swim.

RAV involves itself in emergency planning to ensure that it is prepared for, and responds effectively to, emergencies across rural Victoria.
