Rural Ambulance Victoria utilises the services of Air Ambulance Victoria (AAV) to ensure all Victorians have access to the most comprehensive range of Pre-Hospital Emergency and Non-Emergency Transport services.

AAV operates three emergency helicopters from bases in the LaTrobe Valley, Bendigo and Essendon. The helicopters are used for critical emergency responses, including search and rescue, winch operations and sea rescue cases.

Four fixed-wing aircraft are also stationed at AAV’s Essendon headquarters and are used predominantly for inter-hospital patient transfers from rural towns to major metropolitan hospitals.
