These Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) have been approved for use by Ambulance Paramedics and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) Paramedics in Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) and Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV) by the respective MAS and RAV Medical Standards Committees. They may also be of value for other personnel involved in providing emergency medical care, however the use of these Guidelines by other than MAS and RAV Ambulance and MICA Paramedics should be according to the individual organisation’s policies and governance procedures.
Clients should note that RAV paramedics have the discretion to vary these Guidelines based on their clinical assessment and professional judgement.
RAV has established appropriate procedures to ensure that guidelines are reviewed and updated in a manner consistent with sound medical practice. This includes ensuring that, wherever practical, relevant professionals and interested members of the public are able to comment on proposed changes to the Clinical Practice Guidelines before they are adopted.
Separate Clinical Practice Guidelines have been established to meet the needs of Air Ambulance Victoria. Separate Clinical Protocol Manuals have also been established to meet the needs of Ambulance Community Officers in RAV and Community Emergency Response Team First Responders in MAS and RAV.
