Auxiliaries

Rural Ambulance Victoria’s auxiliaries have been part of ambulance in rural Victoria since 1918 when the first auxiliary was established in Maryborough.  Since then 67 auxiliary committees have been established across rural Victoria.

Today well over 800 auxiliary members make up this large team of volunteers who give so tirelessly of themselves to support and enhance their local ambulance branch in their communities.

Auxiliaries are associated locally with a branch, or branches, to be community advocates for RAV and to raise funds. These funds are for additional or advanced equipment over and above what is provided through RAV’s ambulance service budget.

In 2005/06 Rural Ambulance Victoria auxiliaries raised more than $400,000 and funded the purchase of more than $395,000 worth of much needed equipment.
