RAV raises money for cancer centre
13 Mar 2007
Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV) staff recently held a tree-planting ceremony in recognition of cancer sufferers, after raising money to assist the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre (BCRC) in its quest to find a cure for the disease.
A RAV employee’s family member was recently affected by cancer, so it was suggested by RAV staff that the fundraising efforts go towards BCRC.
RAV’s Corporate Services department raised the majority of the $1,300 donation through various events, with other departments also contributing to the cause.
BCRC Director Dr George Kannourakis and RAV staff planted a native tree at RAV Head Office in memory of cancer sufferers.
RAV Acting General Manager Corporate Services Mike McCrabb said he is pleased that the money raised has gone to a good cause.
“Cancer affects so many of us either directly or indirectly and we hope that our contribution to this very worthwhile Ballarat based centre can assist with the ongoing research for a cure.”
