New RAV Mercedes Sprinter Ambulances on the road

14 May 2007

The first of RAV’s new Mercedes Sprinter Ambulances are on the road. Approximately seventy new vehicles will be rolled out to RAV branches throughout 2007 and 2008.

The new Mercedes is immediately noticeable thanks to its yellow and orange livery which has been adopted in line with international safety standards.

The new Mercedes Sprinters are well-equipped to meet the needs of our paramedics with thirty-one major improvements being made on the previous model through an extensive staff consultation process.

Improvements to the cabin design give paramedics more flexibility and control over the seating, steering wheel and pedals creating greater ergonomics for the driver. Safety improvements include six airbags, crumple zones and vehicle stability control.

Patient welfare has been a key consideration in the design of the new Mercedes Sprinter, the module has been redesigned to give paramedics better access to the patient, improved infection control and a better ride quality.

The RAV Vehicle Working Group looks forward to seeing the vehicles in operation as the rollout continues.
